Days 24 & 25

Yesterday was a pretty good day... no stress, I took a PTO day away from work & I got to relax. My hubby & I spent the day at my daughter Amber's house playing with my grandbaby Lucy :-) He made a healthy dinner over there and we hung out. It was a nice day.

Today was a little bit different. I didn't have to work it was my normal day off. I went to weigh in and again and still have lost nothing I weigh the same thing I did a week & 1/2 ago! Very frustrating! My husband is contemplating weight-loss surgery so we had a mandatory orientation we had to go to this afternoon, and always seemed like after something like that I feel like I haven't eaten in days

I'm sure it's all psychological but he and I were both so hungry it was ridiculous. It would've been so easy to go to fast food or go to some nice restaurant b/c the hotel where thre orientation was at was near several great restaurants in the Anaheim Resort area near Disneyland. I told my hubby that I was really struggling at that moment and all I wanted to do was go eat.

Unfortunately he was feeling the same way. But, cooler heads prevailed and we went home instead and I ate a Weight Watchers SmartOne and had a small salad. I really wanted something different & it would've been really easy to do that tonight because I was already bummed out about the way in again, and let the deep into the pity party.

Anyway, I was good even though I didn't really want to be good. I feel frustrated and disappointed right now. I know I'm trying to be positive, but I'm allowed to feel crappy for a little while anyway. I'll get over it I always do.
Wish Me Luck!

Day 17... a duh moment & a re-weigh in :-)

I went to the Dr. this morning with Art, seeing as how I don't have to be at work until 1:15 PM today... & while I was there I decided I would weigh myself again. And to my delight I lost more weight :-) I lost 1 more pound since Monday!!! :-) as you can see on my weight loss ticker at the top of my blog I have lost a total of 11 pounds altogether now! I'm very happy about this :-) this is definitely a step in the right direction for me.

I still have sometimes have that negative voice in my head that makes me question myself if I can truly go the distance and lose the 100 pounds. It's such a big number, & I've never lost more than 30 total. But small successes like this, give me hope. I would be happy with 2 pounds a week. I know it's going to take me about a year... and that is actually what my goal is. I'll be completely happy with that as long as it keeps moving in the right direction.

Wish Me Luck!

Day 15... Weigh in Day

Today was weigh in day... I'm certainly not as happy as I was last week, however I still lost weight.

I lost 1.2 pounds this week ... for a total weight loss of 9.9 pounds.

I knew it wasn't a great week. But a loss is still a loss. I'm going to accept this and stay as positive as I can because let me tell you, these demons in my head are really messing with me. I'm beginning to feel defeated & like no matter what I do it's just not going to work because I can't exercise.

Although this past week I realize that my food was not stellar in any way, and I did not exercise (to the best of my ability anyway) like I should have. And I knew week 2 would not be like week 1... I did not expect it to be. Even on the Biggest Loser week 2 is notoriously low. I just feel like I kind of fell off track a little bit. But I'm not throwing in the towel... I'm going to press on, because this is what I want more than anything. I want to be healthy, I want to breathe better, I want to look better, I want to live to see my grandchildren have children. I want to be more independent and alleviate some of the burden for my husband. And I can do all these things by losing weight and being thinner and healthier. So those are the reasons I'm not giving up.
Wish Me Luck!

Day 14 & 15

I got a little lazy this weekend so I didn't blog on Sunday... we went to the drive-in Sunday night because Monday was a holiday for me and no work :-) so we went to the drive-in movie theater. I love the drive-in!Normally though we would have licorice, chocolate galore, buttery popcorn in addition to the take out dinner like McDonald's or something like that. So we were good (hubby & me). Before the movie we did go to Del Taco but we got the chicken soft tacos with easy sauce on a corn tortilla. The corn tortillas are much smaller  than the flower ones, and the total calorie count is 170 each. It's 210 calories with flower in full sauce.  And we popped a bag of popcorn at home, a low calorie version and we didn't even finish it.

Day 13

Today was not a good food day for me. I went to a baby shower... which was super fun & Ate the most amazing, yummy scones with clotted cream & quiche I've ever had ... and I know it was naughty. I tracked it the best I could... I took in more calories today than yesterday & yesterday I had 3 meals and today as a 7:40 PM I've only had 2 meals... the brunch at the baby shower & hubby brought me a healthy dinner as I'm working late tonight.  He made shredded  chicken on low-fat tortillas and cheese & brown rice with salsa... yummy. I don't get off work till 10:15 PM, and I honestly can't say at this point that I won't have anything else. The last two days have not been stellar. I feel really bad about it & I know I'm going to totally stress out over it too. I'm off work Sunday & Monday, and I swear to myself that I'm going to be 100% on track. And I will, will, will, will EXERCISE!

Day 12

It's after 9 PM & this is the first time I've been home since 7:00 this morning. I just got back from my grandsons talent show & performances... I'm super tired, and tracking & journaling my food takes a little bit of time so I'm going to do it tomorrow.
Today we ate out because I went straight from work to my youngest grandsons school, for his performance... the cutest thing ever... then made a mad dash to my other grandsons school for the talent show... super cute as well. I made good choices though & I feel okay about it.

I'll Journal Friday and Saturday's food tomorrow night.
Good night :-)

Okay today is Saturday and have had time to log my food... it's scary as it is. Just wait to see what I write for Saturday's day... let's just say the baby shower was too good  :-)

I'm very unhappy with myself about my food today. This is what happens when you don't plan. I ate a hot dog about 5 PM before my grandsons talent show because I was starving and I didn't have any snacks or anything healthy with me. So I grabbed the Turkey dog. And then after about 8 PM I was still super hungry because the hot dog did not do it... so me and my hubby went to Denny's... I could've made worse choices at Denny's... I'm not good to myself about this though it's not horrible but still less than I would've beaten on a normal day prior to January 3

It's my day off & I slept pretty late, so I had a late breakfast & didn't eat lunch until 3... so i haven't eaten dinner yet ( as of 7:45 pm) ... i'll probably just have a bowl of oatmeal or cereal or something simple like that. I've kinda been down a bit since this afternoon... The heart 'never' forgets what the mind does... but i didn't use food for comfort... so I'm happy about that.

Day 10

Today was easy... which sadly makes me kind of nervous. I keep wondering if this is the calm before the storm...of course this is only day 10. Saturday might be a little challenging because I'm going to a baby shower where they will be serving brunch... since I've started, I've been in my own control safe environment, where there are no surprises. I'll just have to make sure I choose the healthiest, smartest options, and tell myself it's okay to say no. I'm sure I'll be fine, as usual I'm sure I'm making a bigger deal about this than it truly is. I guess that's just how I roll  :-)
In the meantime... Wish Me Luck!

Day 9

Not much to report today I had a good day at work & no food issues today at least so far, I haven't felt anxious or stressed today... and no uncontrollable cravings. I haven't done anything different today I think I'm still on a natural high from the 8.7 pound weight loss :-)  I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts because I know down the road I will have some tough days. But until then I'm going to relish in it.

First Weigh-In Day... a Total Success!

Day 8

Holy cow...I lost 8.7 pounds this week! Can you believe that? I am completely and totally surprised, elated & relieved! I never expected that number. I figured maybe 5 but definitely not 8! This was an awesome first week. It gives me that kick that I need to keep going. I realize that I'll probably not have a week this good again, I expect to lose anywhere from 1 to 2 pounds per week maybe 3on a super good week, I'm not being negative I'm just being realistic about it After all I can't exercise like everyone else can. So my goal is to get as much exercise in as I can & to concentrate on my food, because that is something I have 100% control of.
I'm so happy & proud of myself that I stuck with it. This made all the anxiety & fighting the hunger and the urge to overeat worth it. I'm looking forward to another successful week.
Wish Me Luck

Day 7

It's been a lazy Sunday. I slept late today, so we didn't have breakfast until about 1. And we had dinner around 5. So I'm a little off today.I know it's not good to skip meals so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of my calories. I may just call it a day I'm not sure.

No exercise so far today... we're having some visitors from church come over this evening, maybe i'll get to a workout video afterwards...

Anyway, I'm getting anxious for tomorrow "Weigh-In Day" I wont be able to weigh until after work... so I'm going to have to wait "all" day to find out. I'm really bad at waiting :-) I pray I do good & the scale moves in the correct direction! All week I've felt like I've been climbing up a hill, and I'm really hoping that there is something to look forward to when I get to the top :-)

Wish Me Luck!

I'm trying to decide whether or not to post my daily food here anymore. It just seems kind of time-consuming because I do track my food daily on SparkPeople.com. So unless I can figure out how to copy and paste my food journal from there to here so it's readable... then I'm just probably going to blog about how I'm doing & feeling about my weight loss journey. But like I said this is a work in progress and that also could change again.
Wish Me Luck!

Day 4

                                                            Still on track...
Thursday are my days off so I spent the day with my hubby. I got to sleep in (one of my favorite things in life to do) and then we ran a few errands. I stepped it up a little bit today and went to the gym. Which I haven't done in about 9 months maybe longer. I belong to the Goodwill fitness center which is in Santa Ana. It's a super nice state-of-the-art fitness facility for all to use and most of the equipment is accessible for people in wheelchairs. So I went this evening and man am I feeling it now :-)

No new news on the job front for my hubby. He's really been suffering with a bad back so right now I don't think he could actually even really work a job in his trade. So he'll probably be able to collect disability for a little bit and hopefully by then his back will be better enough to go back to work.

Today's Food:

Breakfast:
1 cup oatmeal w/ raisins
1 medium orange
1 cup almond milk

Lunch:
Tuna Salad Sandwich on low cal whole wheat bread
with tomato slices and spinach leaves
1/4 c raisins

Dinner:
6 inch turkey sandwich from Subway
with spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers & bell peppers
& easy Mayo

Snacks:
1/2 of a Dragon fruit (my first experience with this fruit... I really like it actually, going to try things I don't normally have, trying to widen my horizons a bit)

Water:
approx 4cups of water (crystal light)

Exercise:
50 minute cardio workout at the gym
on the Vita-Glide & the sit down stepper

Day 3

Another successful food day! I already feel a little bit better. My tummy is not full all the time from over eating which is a great thing. I'm really glad that I don't get bored with food choices... in other words I can eat the same thing several times a week, and I'm totally fine with it. When we eat healthy, we tend to be kind of repetitive. We seem to pick the safe, familiar options. I'm hoping as time goes on hubby will get a little more adventurous and try different recipes. Don't get me wrong he's a really good cook actually, I didn't get this size by just eating out all the time :-) ... but I suspect my food log will look pretty similar each day. Especially for breakfast and lunch. But like I said I'm fine with it I don't get bored with that kind of thing.

I'm still working out exactly how going to work this blog. I know I want to journal my food, water & exercise. I also need a space for my emotional journey. I may save the video blogs for that. It's going to be a work in progress...

Wish Me Luck!

Day 1

Today started off as I expected, in a rush. I overslept & was running late for work. But I did take the time to do a two-minute video blog however something happened with the sound so I had to delete it :-( But like I said in my video this evening... food wise, I did really good today. I did feel really gross and nauseous most of the day though. I'm not sure why actually, but the past couple days on and off I've felt really bloated and yucky. I seriously thought I was going to toss my cookies just about the entire day at work. So I left about 20 minutes early and went to the doctor. I am feeling a bit better now, but still a little queasy, so I'm probably not going to be able to exercise today. Just as a reminder to myself this is not an excuse for being lazy... I really honestly am feeling sick.

I could do better w/ drinking my water though. This is always been difficult for me to get enough fluids in. I bought a water bottle with a pop top and some Crystal Light, so this should help me get that down as much as I can.

Today's Food:
Breakfast:
1 cup Cheerios
1/2 cup of blue berries
1 cup fat-free milk

Lunch:
1/2 whole-wheat pita pocket
stuffed with spinach leaves, hard-boiled egg,
tomato slices. 1/2 teaspoon of mayo and raisins

Dinner:
(due to the upset tummy doctor said a mild diet tonight)
small red baked potato, 1 teaspoon butter & sour cream
1 small whole-wheat dinner role
1/2 cup Healthy Choice soup

and water, As much as I could handle throughout the whole day.

Snacks:
2 graham crackers squares
1 cup international House coffee
1 banana

Today's Emotions:
optimistic & hopeful and happy to have gotten through Day 1, meeting all my major goals I set out for myself today... minus the exercise due to the yucky tummy.

Preparation

11:15 AM
As I suspected...my hubby is starting to get stressed out about the planning. He drives me crazy with this kind of thing. I'm just going to let him make his comments and storm around for a few minutes and I'm not going to react to it... he'll get on board, he usually does after a while anyway. After all he is the one that has to do all the cooking and physical prepping . The planning is my job the doing is his. So my overall goal today is to set out to do what I planned, meal planning and grocery shopping and most of all to just... let it ride!

Wish me luck

--------------

*Update* 9:15 PM
Today went pretty good. Hubby went along with everything and seems to be really on board now. My kids all came over and had dinner tonight and and of course brought my beautiful grandchildren... I need my dose for the week... before they came over we went to the grocery store and bought the essentials for the week. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies and healthy snacks. I planned my breakfasts and lunches for the week that are quick and easy and for dinner Art (hubby) is going to take care of that.

So tomorrow I start Day One. The last few days I've actually felt pretty yucky. I've had a headache on and off the past two days and tonight I felt nauseous... so I'm praying that I feel better tomorrow. I'm going to get to bed early so I can get up early my goal is to video blog before work. I notoriously run late, so we'll see how that works out.

I'm really looking forward to beginning this change. I need and want to be successful at losing weight more than anything in this world.

So, wish me luck and Ready Set... Go!

Going public can be kind of scary

I decided to make my blog public This is something that kind of makes me a bit nervous. But I think it's something I need to do to keep myself honest as I try to reach my goals. I really don't think I'm going to have a lot of readers, I don't even know if I'm going to have any readers at all, but I need to know the things I'm saying might be read by somebody, maybe even help someone. I've always tried to make lemonade out of lemons. And I've got myself into a situation I'm not loving certainly not proud of, but who knows it may inspire someone, or help someone who's going through a similar situation disabled or not. So here goes...

dear family and friends & total strangers who may be reading this, I do welcome your comments , encouragement & advice. However, please don't judge me because if I'm having a bad day I may say something or write something that I mean just at that moment. This is my place to vent and try to figure out why I give up on trying to lose weight. I think of it kinda like an alcoholic. They're not alcoholic simply because they drink too much. Typically they drink too much because of all the noise in their head and emotional stuff that causes them to want to numb the pain with alcohol. So for me it's not just because I'm lazy or because I'm hungry or because I just really like this food or that food. It's because of something I'm dealing with emotionally. I don't know what it is... maybe deep down I don't think I really deserve it. That's the kind of stuff I need to work out. So, I'm using this space to help me to figure it out, and work it out with myself as a kind of motivator to help keep me on track.

My goal is to blog regularly, I'm not sure really what I'll be blogging about yet... it's going to be a work in progress. I want nothing more in this entire world and to be a thinner, healthier, happier person. And I know that it's going to take a lot of work... from the inside & the outside ... wish me luck!
Ready, Set...Go!

Farmer's Market ... or maybe not

Well i started the day off right... (as you can see from the video) & got up @ 9:00 am & headed out the door @ 9:45 am w/ tons on energy to my hubby's dismay to go to the Farmer's Market ... & it was closed :-( stupid farmers j/k...  so my hubby & i went & had a BIG ol' yummy unhealthy breakfast instead... kinda like our last big horrah.  I plan to go next week though.

Now i'm at home on New years day w/ a monster sized headache... i took a ton of meds ... cross your fingers they kick in soon... Wish me luck :-)

Happy New Year

I'm so ready to begin again & i'm really excited & motivated but a bit nervous that i'll loose my desire to keep going, especially when it gets a bit challenging... wish me luck!

Happy New Year!
